Working Towards Justice and Healing: Q&A with Esperanza Martell
In this panel discussion on health and social justice activism and creative arts in the Bronx, Esperanza Martell discusses her work promoting the dismantling of capitalism and healing in communities of color with Lehman student researchers. She also shares her history as a community organizer, educator, human rights activist, trainer, life-skills counselor, mother, poet, and artist for over half a century. A member of El Comité, the NY Vieques Committee, ProLibertad, Casa ATABEX Ache, las Lolitas, Bohio ATABEX Grandmothers counsel and other militant Puerto Rican organizations, Esperanza has worked for the independence of Puerto Rico, the end of the U.S. military occupation of Puerto Rico, and the release of all political prisoners.
